Ocean Spice is a full Indian vegetarian restaurant on the beach, with its own kitchen and its own menu. On most islands vegetarian means whatever the buffet happens to have that evening; here it means a menu written for it, every day of your stay.
Eight treatment pavilions built in wood and bamboo, several of them open-air, set in the island's greenery rather than over the water. Ayurvedic treatments including Shirodhara, yoga and meditation sessions, hydrotherapy and a beauty salon sit alongside — a village you walk into, not a single spa building.

There is enough land for tennis and badminton courts, bicycles and a proper walk after dinner — the opposite of a small island where you have circled the whole thing by day two.
Overwater villas with private pools sit out on their own jetties, while the kids club runs a free daily programme for ages 4 to 11 with its own playground, and the main pool has a children's pool beside it. The main restaurant beside the pool, and the one you'll use most: breakfast 7:00–10:00, lunch 12:30–14:30, dinner 18:30–21:30, with live cooking stations and themed buffets that rotate through Indian, Maldivian, Italian, Mediterranean and Asian nights. No booking needed, and no ordering decisions on the day you land.
A dedicated Indian vegetarian restaurant on the beach — not a vegetarian corner of a buffet, an entire kitchen cooking for it. The single most useful restaurant on the island if you eat vegetarian, and rare enough in the Maldives to be worth choosing a resort for.
Out on the island's western tip, which makes it the one to book on a night you want the sunset with dinner. Pan-Asian cooking with a lighter, sharper menu than the buffet — the natural change of pace on night two or three.
Perched at the reef's edge, and the break from seafood and curry that a four-night stay usually needs by the third evening. Casual, loud in a good way, and the easiest of the specialty restaurants to eat at with children.

A PADI centre on the island running courses from first-timer through to Divemaster, with roughly 30 dive sites inside an hour's boat ride — Raa Atoll sees a fraction of the dive traffic the central atolls do. Children get the Bubble Maker session, which is a real regulator and tank in the shallow end of the pool.
Paddleboards and kayaks are free to take out whenever you like, and your package includes a sunset fishing trip on a traditional dhoni. Reyla Adventures runs the rest — jet skis, catamaran sailing, the Fura Cruiser, sandbank trips and sunset cruises.

Getting There
Seaplane Transfer
45 minutes from Malé International Airport

Furaveri sits 150 km north of Malé, in Raa Atoll, and the way in is by air. Before you fly, the resort's own lounge at the seaplane terminal takes you off your feet — Wi-Fi, refreshments and somewhere comfortable to wait while the holiday starts catching up with you.

Then the best 45 minutes of the journey. The Trans Maldivian seaplane lifts off the water rather than a runway and flies low enough to see everything: reef rings in a dozen shades of blue, sandbanks that exist only at low tide, the dark shapes of rays moving through the shallows. People who have flown it once ask for the window seat the next time.

You land on the lagoon beside the island, step onto a floating platform, and a boat runs you the last few minutes to the jetty — so your first view of Furaveri is the one from the water, with the island's tree line coming up ahead of you.
