Jawakara Islands Maldives spreads across two islands in Lhaviyani Atoll, Mabin and Dheru, linked by a 650-metre bridge over the Jawakara house reef, with Umi restaurant halfway across. Mabin is the larger island, with 202 beach, pool and water villas, the Jawa Kids Club, two infinity pools and a 9-hole golf course. Dheru is smaller and quieter, with 88 villas, and its water villas are kept for guests aged 18 and over. Between them the islands have 290 villas, six restaurants, six bars, a PADI 5-Star Prodivers dive centre and two Sulha Spas.

Mabin and Dheru are separate islands linked by a 650-metre bridge that runs over the Jawakara house reef, with Umi restaurant and bar in the middle. Mabin is the busier island, with 202 villas, the kids club and the golf course; Dheru has 88 villas and a slower pace. Guests can walk or cycle across, so a stay on one island still gives you the restaurants, bars and beaches of both.

Dheru, the smaller island, has 88 villas and runs on Premium All-Inclusive only, with its own buffet restaurant, Thila Bar and an overwater Sulha Spa. Its 30 Water Pool Villas are adults-only (18+), so couples get a quieter overwater stay while the kids club, golf course and busier pools stay over on Mabin, the larger island.

Mabin has a 9-hole golf course with a driving range and a golf simulator, rare on a Maldives island. Fore Bar sits on the course for a drink after your round, and Hideout restaurant overlooks the greens.

Prodivers runs a PADI 5-Star dive centre on the resort, with more than 50 dive sites in Lhaviyani Atoll. Divers report rays, sharks and turtles, with manta rays in season.

Nika, Bonthi and Molo Bar on Mabin have terraces over the lagoon for sunset aperitifs and evening entertainment, and Fore Bar overlooks the golf course. On Dheru, Umi Bar looks over the house reef and lagoon, and Thila Bar's terrace faces the ocean.

Villa Types

Mabin Beach Villa

A 78 m² villa a few steps from the beach and lagoon, close to Mabin's restaurants, pools and kids club. It has a king bed, an indoor bathroom with a rain shower, and an espresso machine and wine fridge in the room.

Mabin Beach Pool Villa

At 101 m², this beach villa adds a private infinity pool a few steps from the sand and lagoon. A king bed, a rain shower and easy access to Mabin's main facilities.

Mabin Water Pool Villa

A 107 m² villa built over the lagoon, with a private infinity pool and a sundeck with steps into the water. It has a king bed and sits on Mabin, the larger island, within reach of the main pools, restaurants and golf course.

Dheru Water Pool Villa

The same 107 m² overwater layout on Dheru, the quieter island, with a private infinity pool and sundeck steps into the lagoon. These villas are adults-only (18+), and stays on Dheru are on Premium All-Inclusive.

Umi restaurant halfway along the bridge between Mabin and Dheru at Jawakara Islands Maldives

Umi

An all-day buffet on the western end of Mabin, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. Dining is indoors or al fresco in a traditional open-air room, with international dishes and live cooking stations.

Mabin's second buffet restaurant, at the southern end of the island, with the same breakfast, lunch and dinner service. Expect international cuisine, live cooking stations and indoor or open-air tables.

Dheru's buffet restaurant, smaller and quieter than the Mabin buffets. It serves breakfast, lunch and dinner from international buffets and live cooking stations, indoors or al fresco.

An à la carte Mediterranean restaurant on Mabin, open to families and friends. Book an early-evening table for the sunset, and reserve ahead, as it fills quickly.

A casual restaurant overlooking the golf course, serving its own take on burgers, sandwiches and salads. The menu has plenty of vegan alternatives, making it an easy lunch stop after a round.

An à la carte Asian-Pacific restaurant set halfway along the bridge between the two islands, with the house reef and lagoon below. Umi Bar shares the spot, and tables go early, so book in advance.

Activities & Wellness

The 650-metre bridge crosses the Jawakara house reef, and snorkeling equipment is available at the resort. Prodivers runs a PADI 5-Star dive centre with more than 50 dive sites in Lhaviyani Atoll, where divers see rays, sharks and turtles, and manta rays in season; dives and courses are at extra cost.

A 9-hole golf course on Mabin with a driving range and a golf simulator. Fore Bar sits on the course and Hideout restaurant overlooks it.

MSTS Watersports runs jet skis, water skiing, wakeboarding, fun tubes and sofa rides at extra cost. Kayaks, windsurfing and catamarans are available for time on the lagoon.

Padel, tennis and badminton courts, a volleyball court, football on artificial turf and a fitness centre. Indoors there's table tennis, billiards, air hockey, pinball and board games.

Jawa Kids Club on Mabin runs activities such as coconut hunting, a junior golf session and a buggy tour of the island. Mabin also has two infinity pools facing the ocean and a kids' pool.

Two spas: one in a garden setting on Mabin, offering Ayurveda therapies, massages, yoga, meditation and beauty treatments, and one over the lagoon on Dheru. Treatments use natural organic skincare products.

Getting There

Seaplane Transfer

35–40 minutes from Malé International Airport

After immigration and customs, a Crown & Champa Resorts representative meets you in the arrivals hall and takes you across to the seaplane terminal, where the flight usually leaves within 1–2 hours of landing. The seaplane flies north to Lhaviyani Atoll and lands at the resort, with the two islands and the bridge in view on the way in.
